Willy Moon

Hailing from Third-Man Records, Jack White’s record label, it’s hard not to expect something interesting an original. Willy Moon (William Sinclair), bursts onto the scene swaddled in a dapper collaboration of sharp suits, retro blues, train tracks and some superb whistling.
In “Railroad Track,” Moon opens with a percussion set almost
identical to Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks.” Though
identical to Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks.” Thoughit’s originally disconcerting, Moon quickly whisks the listener away to a land of tumbleweeds, saddle shoes and western-indie folk rock.
His cover “Bang Bang,” is a wonderful adaptation, torn down and stitched carelessly back together, only to be stuffed into the neck of a Molotov cocktail and whipped at the eardrum. The degradation in the sound quality is palpable, but it works, and that’s what’s important.
Willy Moon is another wild success for White and his record label. Hopefully we’ll see more of him in the future.
