Army Navy - The Last Place

Bands are often given several paths to choose over their career. Some reinvent their sound for mainstream success, or even to avoid it. Others continue to perfect the sound they've settled on.
Army Navy is holding strong to the adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." It's a midwest attitude for the Los Angeles trio. This attitude is presented on Army Navy's sophomore release The Last Place. Head-bopping and hip-swinging to the bass lines coupled over with soft licks of the guitar can sum up the entirety of the album. IT's what you expect and it's what you want. The band captivates their avid listeners by putting them in some kind-of euphoric state of mind.
Indie-pop was given another anthem in the song "Feathered." Halfway through the album “Feathered” starts playing, stop what you're doing because the music will make you anyways. It’s muted, power-chord-pumping, beginning smoothly flows in and out of the hook and chorus. It makes for a light enough track for a subtle pump up. It's not a "Freebird," but "Feathered still takes flight.
The album closes with (or opens with if iTunes is your drug-of-choice) is "Pastoral." It's an easy-going beach-track that takes inspiration from the subtle pangs of summer. It reminds you of your freedom, and by the end of the track/album you’ve been taken away with it.
The entirety of the album is something of a release to the people who long for the weekend, or some kind of sanctuary outside of the norm.
